Kyushu Animal Academy’s Initiatives for SDGs・Meatless Monday begins.

About Meet Free Mandy

April 19, 3rd year of Reiwa (Monday)

At Kyushu Animal Academy, at the suggestion of President Tokuda, a Meatless Monday lunch box will be provided to all students and faculty members every Monday for the time being from April 19, 3rd year of Reiwa. This was started with the aim of reaffirming the recognition that we are being made alive by receiving the lives of animals as workers in the animal industry. At the same time, it can be said to be an activity of SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals). Every Monday, I want you to eat the same meat-free “Kamanomeshi” and have an opportunity to think about the future animal industry, our future, environmental problems, SDGs, etc. It is a wonderful idea of Dr. Tokuda! Valuable lunch every week! It will be a feast ^^ / By the way, today’s menu is “Bird mayonnaise-style bento”. Kyudo students! Let’s taste it well and eat it!

“Meatless Monday” is a Monday when you don’t eat any meat. In reality, it’s difficult to suddenly become vegan or vegetarian. Especially in Japan, there are very few vegetarian restaurants and vegetarian menus. So you don’t have to force yourself to be vegetarian or vegan. Creating a day when we don’t eat meat, one day a week, even on Mondays, is an activity that we can easily do to reduce the environmental burden. From 2017, the Cabinet Office, and from 2018, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office also offers veggie set meals every Monday at the Cabinet Office Cafeteria and Tokyo Metropolitan Government Cafeteria.
