Department overview

The number of pet animals has increased in recent years, and veterinary nurses have more opportunities to interact with pets and pet owners. Therefore, what is required of an animal nurse is knowledge and communication skills about animals.

In this department, not only the specialized knowledge about animal diseases and nursing necessary for animal nurses, but also the specialized skills such as health management and nutrition / food management, knowledge about training, trimming technology, and good communication and reception with pet owners. Since on-site responsiveness is required for work, etc., we will develop the practical ability through lectures, exercises, and practical training.

 

 

What do you learn?

A veterinary nurse is an integral part of a veterinary clinic. The range of work is really wide, such as veterinarian’s medical support work, surgical assistance, reception work, animal nutrition, health counseling and other outpatient care, as well as inpatient nursing and long-term care. The technology is considerable.

At this school, while comprehensively learning the basics of nursing necessary in the field, we will deepen the knowledge in each field and firmly learn with a wide range of curriculum so that we can improve that knowledge to technology in clinical training.

In addition to specialized classes, we aim to develop almighty human resources by learning through lectures such as computer operations necessary for reception work and communication skills to face the owner firmly.

To become a certified veterinary nurse...

The Unified Veterinary Nurse Certification Organization was established in 2011, and the national unified examination for certified veterinary nurses is now being conducted. Only those who have completed the required credits at a vocational school or university that has a department / course that teaches “animal nursing” based on the curriculum recommended by the Unified Animal Nursing Certification Organization can take this certification test.

Shotoku Gakuen Kyushu Animal Academy is an accredited school of the “General Incorporated Foundation Animal Nurse Unified Qualification Organization” that conducts the animal nurse unified qualification certification business. It is the only accredited school in Kumamoto prefecture.

 

 

After graduating from the Department of Animal Nursing

Many students find employment in veterinary hospitals by taking advantage of their qualifications as veterinary nurses.
On the other hand, some people can use the knowledge and skills they have learned in animal nursing over the past two years to become hotel staff and researchers who can stay with pets, pet shop sales staff, and pet cemetery staff.
The fields in which students who have graduated from Kyushu Zoological Academy can play an active role are expanding year by year due to the efforts of their seniors. The knowledge and skills of veterinary nurses are sought after in many areas of the animal industry.
